- Not A Traditional Filter Review by MB - Oxfordshire
- The trouble with pipe filter systems is, to put it simply, the filter itself. Whilst it may absorb moisture and other residue, passing the smoke through a filter will also change the taste and flavour of any tobacco. The "Magic Inch" system differs as the route between the bowl and mouthpiece is left totally clear. You can pass a pipe cleaner through the stem and shank and into the bowl without any impediment. The "Magic Inch" system passes the smoke through a section inside the stem that has four small holes. The sleeve covers these holes and allows a small amount of cooling air to mix with the smoke as well as absorbing moisture leaving the smoke dry. If you dislike the loss of subtle flavours that result from a filter pipe, but also want to reduce the moisture (and tongue burn) from your tobacco, you should really try one of the pipes in the Carey "Magic Inch" range.
