- Wonderful! Review by David
I am still newish to pipes BUT I have worked my way through a fair range of tobaccos and settled on, dare I say it, St Bruno as my 'go to' blend. However, fancying something different and not wowed by some of the more flavoured samplers, I took a punt on this for a sweet occasional alternative to the Bruno. And boy am I glad I did!
The pack opened, the aroma is superb, reminiscent of a decent Black Forest Gateaux. Not too moist or dry and easy to fill my pipe. I settled down with a cup of tea to taste.
Easily lit, this tobacco instantly has a wonderful aroma, sweet but not sickly. The taste is superb and not overpowering, the cherry is very evident, but subtle in the mouth. Neither does it feel too strong in the after taste. It burned well, maybe a little hot at times, but smoothly and leaves a clean white-grey ash.
In summary, a mellow, smooth smoke with just enough cherry to sweeten and not ruin the flavour coupled with a delightful room note. Wonderful!
Definitely a new favourite and I shall have another bowl soon.... (Posted on 02/09/2014)
- Full Flavour Review by MB - Oxfordshire
The aroma when first opening the pouch is very warm with almost a "Christmas Pudding" quality. The cut is nice and broad, moist and very slightly sticky. Despite this, Black Cherry smokes very nicely.
The flavours from the smoke are lovely and deep with less sweetness than I had expected. This is a dark but not overpowering blend. I will certainly be enjoying this tobacco again. (Posted on 08/10/2011)
